There are 3 ways to pay:
- Money
- Debit card
- Credit card
- US $500 (five hundred dollars) per person for those returning by land or domestic flight (Foz do Iguaçu airport, for example).
- US $1,000 (one thousand dollars) per person for those returning via international flights (Ciudad del Este airport, for example). Person means an adult or child of any age.
The tax is 50% on what exceeds the value of the quota. Example: if your purchase totaled US$700.00 and you will return to Brazil by land, you must make the following calculation: US$700 (total purchases) – US$500 (inland quota) = US$200 (surplus value). Applying 50% on the $200 = You must pay $100 in tax.
Exchange houses usually have a difference that varies between 3% of the values of the quotes of the day. Inquire about exchange rates in Paraguay.
Exchange houses in Paraguay work with a slightly more favorable quotation, in addition to not having to pay the IOF (Tax on Financial Operations). It is also allowed to negotiate a discount, if you are converting a large amount into cash (they are discounts of a few cents, but in an amount of money you end up saving a lot in the total sum).
